Lacey, the assistant

What Lacey does, your own Anthropic key, and what she sends and when.

What does Lacey do?

Lacey sets up tournaments from a plain description, answers questions about the admin page you have open, and changes a tournament's settings and schedule from its page. Nothing is created or changed until you press Create or Apply.

  • She fills in the date, courts, divisions, game length with overtime and changeover, pricing, the team cap, the registration window and the release.
  • She can also lay out placeholder teams with a round-robin schedule.
  • On a tournament's page she can change that tournament: its name, dates, place, description, prices, free agents, team cap, waitlist, registration window, registration on or off, and release. You see each change before and after, press Apply, and can Undo it.
  • On a tournament's page she can also change its schedule: move games earlier or later ("start everything at 11", "push the rest of the day back 15 minutes"), change a division's game length, overtime or changeover and re-time its games, swap two teams, rename a team, or put a new team in a team's place before it has played.
  • Moving the date moves every game to the new day at the same times, in your organization's time zone.
  • Games that have been played or are under way never move or change teams, and a locked division's schedule is left alone. Undo puts each game back exactly as it was, except a game played since.
  • She can't change the bracket format or rebuild a bracket, add or remove divisions or courts, or change seasons and leagues.
  • She can read Retention, Players, a player's page, a tournament's page, Seasons, a season's page and Members.
  • On any other admin page, the side panel says she can't read that page yet.

How do I set up a tournament with Lacey?

Open Admin → Lacey, or press the Lacey button at the bottom right of any admin page, and describe the tournament. Nothing is created until you press Create tournament.

  1. Describe it in one message: the name, date, place, divisions, price, team cap, when registration closes, and which release to use.
  2. Read her proposal. Ask for changes in plain words, such as "make it $175".
  3. Press Create tournament. Open it to check the result.
  • She picks a release only from your releases that are in use. If you have none, add one under Admin → Organization → Releases.
  • The side panel follows you from page to page, so you can keep working while she answers.

Why does Lacey need our own Anthropic key?

Lacey runs on your organization's own Anthropic account, so her usage is billed to you and LaceUp never pays for it or sees it. A typical setup costs a cent or two.

  1. An owner opens Admin → Lacey and opens Settings.
  2. Paste the Anthropic API key and press Save key.
  • The key is checked with Anthropic before it is saved, stored encrypted, and never shown again. The page shows its last four characters.
  • Replace key and Remove key are on the same page. Without a key, Lacey is off.
  • Setting a monthly spend limit on that Anthropic account is a good idea.

What does Lacey send to Anthropic, and when?

Only when you send her a message: your conversation, your organization's name, today's date and the titles of your releases in use, plus the data on the admin page you have open. It goes through your organization's own key.

  • Page data can include player names and payment totals. Email addresses and phone numbers are left out.
  • The side panel says which page Lacey can see before you ask.

Where are Lacey conversations kept?

Conversations are saved for your staff on Admin → Lacey. Pick one up later, archive it, or delete it.

  • Recent and Archived switch between the two lists.
  • New conversation starts fresh.
  • Delete cannot be undone.
